International Student Officer
Daniel Jun
-
Hello! I’m Daniel Dongyeon Jun (전동연) from Seoul, South Korea, a third-year Commerce (Finance) and Law student. Having lived and studied across Korea, Singapore, China, Japan, and now Australia, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges international students face—balancing study, work, and life while adapting to new cultures and questioning where we belong. Like many of you, I’m navigating how to build a career both here and abroad—and that’s exactly why I’m running for International Student Officer.
-
Whether you’re an international student planning to stay in Australia or return home, I want to work with you to build the support systems that reflect our shared ambitions. SULS International can be more than just a society—a bridge that helps you understand the system, recognise your strengths, and thrive both here and abroad. You’re already doing what few others do—studying law in another language, adapting to a new culture, and shaping your future far from home. I hope to continue the great work of past teams while introducing initiatives that help you see your value, seize opportunities with confidence, and turn your international experience into your greatest advantage.

Socials
-
Objective: Equip international students with the confidence and skills to seamlessly integrate into SULS and Sydney Law School.
-
Being far from home can make building connections daunting, but your social life is what anchors you here. Through inclusive events, mixers, and collaborations, we’ll help you find community, form lasting friendships, and make SULS feel like home—because thriving socially is the first step to thriving everywhere else.
-
International Student Welcome Dinner: A Joint Event!
-
To kick off the semester, we plan on hosting a dinner-table style, collaborative event with all other law societies at Sydney Law School, creating an avenue for genuine connection from day one!
-
-
Increased collaboration with international law societies
-
Having been part of other international law societies at Sydney Law School since 2022, I have managed to establish a great connection with the respective societies. We expect to host more joint social events of varying cultures with these societies – to foster connection, inclusivity, and community across campus (e.g. karaoke, board games, movie nights)!

-
Cultural Integration Conversations
-
Open discussions with students and alumni who’ve successfully bridged cultures, sharing how they adapted, built connections, and found success. Learn from their journeys—and discover what you can apply to your own.

Careers
-
International Students Clerkship Panel
-
If you’re someone who wishes to start their legal career in Australia, clerkships are the most prestigious and attractive path. Therefore, we aim to establish a panel for you to learn from a panel of international students (alumni, or 5th years) who have managed to secure a clerkship in Australia – an incredible accomplishment! Learn from their journey, and how, in most cases, they were able to maximise the potential of their international background to land it.
