Friday Sport will help turn SULS sport into a recognised and anticipated part of law school life — social, balanced, and inclusive.
-
Introduce recurring Friday sport sessions, aligning with the JD cohort’s day off to maximise participation and accessibility.
-
Rotate between inclusive, low-barrier sports such as basketball, soccer, tennis, and touch footy to appeal to a variety of interests.
-
Coordinate with the Campus portfolio to align Friday sport with existing social initiatives — such as picnics, charity days, or on-campus activities — ensuring a cohesive approach without duplicating responsibilities.
-
Focus on building engagement and consistency, aiming for regular, well-organised sessions that students look forward to

Inclusive & Flexible Sport
SULS sport should be open and stress-free — everyone deserves a chance to play, not just those on teams.
-
Organise casual “drop-in” games and occasional weekend sessions for students with demanding schedules.
-
Emphasise sport as a form of wellbeing and connection, not just competition.
-
Work with the Campus portfolio to promote sport as part of maintaining mental health and study balance.
-
Provide simple sign-ups, short commitments, and clear communication to make participation easy.
Strengthen Interfaculty Presence
By improving organisation, communication, and recognition, we’ll make SULS a more visible and competitive presence across the university.
-
Improve SULS’ standing in Wednesday Interfaculty Sport by focusing on communication, organisation, and representation.
-
Establish a team coordinator system, where each sport has a point person responsible for attendance, communication, and team culture.
-
Collaborate with USYD Sport and other faculty teams to ensure SULS fields full, prepared sides every week.
-
Celebrate results, teamwork, and standout performances via the SULS Sports & Campus Instagram to boost visibility and morale.
Social Media & Accessibility
A centralised, active social presence makes it easier for students to engage, stay informed, and feel connected to SULS sport
-
Integrate more sport coverage into the existing SULS Sports & Campus Instagram page.
-
Use this channel to post fixtures, sign-up links, match results, and student highlights in a clear, accessible format.
-
Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure professional, consistent visuals and broader reach.
-
Highlight both JD and LLB involvement, reinforcing a united SULS sporting identity.
Merch & Law Pride
High-quality, inclusive merch fosters pride, unity, and visibility across the law school community.
-
Continue SULS’ strong merchandise program, maintaining its quality and professionalism.
-
Introduce new designs to build connection and identity among students.
-
Ensure both male and female sizing options for inclusivity and comfort.
-
Maintain efficient stock management, ensuring smooth access for students.
-
Use merch as a way to foster community, pride, and visibility across campus.
Sport x Wellbeing
Sport and wellbeing go hand-in-hand — both strengthen our community on and off the field.
-
Collaborate other portfolios to host charity runs, mindfulness sessions, and friendly physical challenges that promote movement and mental health.
-
Incorporate these initiatives into existing SULS events, such as Wellbeing Week, for maximum participation.
-
Use social media to highlight stories and benefits of staying active, creating a positive link between law, lifestyle, and wellbeing.
